AQUAlist
The Australian Quaternary Association disseminates notices and
updates via an automated remailing service (AQUAlist). AQUAlist can
be used to notify other members of the Quaternary community of job
vacancies, upcoming conferences, funding opportunites and new
research. This list can also serve as an unmoderated forum for
discussion of Quaternary topics.
To subscribe, visit the following website and enter your email
address and full name:
http://mailman.anu.edu.au/mailman/listinfo/aqualist
You can update your subscription details (or unsubscribe) and visit
the archives, by visiting the same site.
The list has a number of security features enabled:
- If you subscribe manually to the list you
will receive a confirmation notice that you must return. This
prevents someone surreptitiously altering your subscription or
impersonating you.
- The email addresses of subscribers are not
freely available as they are on some lists.
- Replies to the
list are redirected to the originator of the message rather than to
the entire list. This greatly reduces the potential for mistakenly
sending personal messages to the list.
- The list does not accept attachments of any kind (eg., Word
processor documents, PDF
files). Contact the list owner
to place attachments on the website.
- You must be a member
of the list to post to it. This allows those who would 'spam' the
list with advertising to be traced.
- Finally, the list can be moderated
(messages edited) at any time.
Abuse of any kind to the list will result in deletion of
subscription.
It is convenient to set up a filter on your email application to
direct messages from the list to their own folder. For example, on
Eudora, do the following:
- Highlight a message from the list,
- Select 'Make Filter' under the 'Special' menu
- Select 'Any Recipient'
- Select 'Transfer to new mailbox'
- Finally, select 'Create filter'
- Highlighting messages in an existing mailbox and selecting
'Filter messages' will move past messages from the list to the new
mailbox.
