The Australasian Quaternary Association occasionally recognises distinguished careers of AQUA members by presenting the lifetime achievement award. The award takes the form of a certificate and life membership of AQUA, which is presented at an AQUA general meeting or at a suitable conference occasion. The first presention of this award was made to Jim M.A Bowler for his outstanding contributions to Australian Quaternary science. The award was presented at a conference held in Jim's honour (Bowlerfest) in February, 2000.
